Description: Austin armoured cars stand on the bridge, covering it with machine guns, as trams pass along and German civilians go about their business. (Note the British official photographer J Warwick Brooke at work.) At one end of the bridge a British Vickers machine gun post has been set up, manned by 'B' Squadron, 18th Hussars. With the soldiers are German civilians with rifles and armbands, acting as a temporary police force.
